Intermediate Latin

LATN 201

The purpose of this course is to learn how to read Latin prose and poetry. Building on a strong foundation of grammar, syntax, morphology, and vocabulary, you will read unadapted, authentic pieces of Latin literature written by Ancient Roman authors such as Livy, Cicero and Ovid. We will focus in particular on rhetorical and poetic devices in the texts, while learning about Ancient Roman culture and values through the ancient authors’ own voices.
